Flow to the shore
Large seascape piece incorporating felting and applique techniques, mounted on canvas
This piece was inspired by many visits to the coast in this country and in France, and reflects a more subtle colour palette and representation of movement in the water. Felting in the sky shows movement of the clouds and a range of hand embroidery follows the waves in the sea. The crashing of the waves to shore is represented by heat mouldable fabric and felting techniques make up the shore and pebbles on the sand. A range of beading and hand embroidery is individually sewn onto the piece for fine detail and texture.
